    The ridiculous view of motivation

If someone posting on a message board that a team might play with you, could beat you is trash talking, then first off, I think we're all guilty of trash talking and second off, if supposed trash talking is what it takes to motivate your team to win, you're probably in trouble later on. What are you going to do later when you start up in the playoffs and can't find the message board from the schools you're playing, lose because nobody is motivating you.
There is a huge difference between saying something, even picking against a team, than trash talking. If Norton was running a score up due to something said on a message board, then shoot, wait some of you predicted Burton so bad and trash talked Clintwood, maybe Clintwood should take that personally and try to embarass or hurt Burton. Anybody seeing the point? Probably not because its more fun to try and act like there is some disrespect going. The Clintwood staff and players and actually the Norton staff and players have a pretty good respect for the other program. Coach Adams is no doubt going to work with his team on this game like he does every other game, preparing the same, focusing on the fact that Clintwood has improved and needs/wants the win. Right now, the old if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Coach Mullins is no doubt going work with his team on this game like he does every game, preparing the same, focusing on the fact that Norton is undefeated and wants to keep winning. His team knows they are the underdogs and have to step it up quite a bit to win. Is either coach thinking the other team is going to lay down? Heck no. Is a player on either team thinking the other teams players are going to lay down? Heck no. Are players from either team concerned what a bunch of people who aren't on the field predict, one way or the other? They sure shouldn't be. If it takes some people from Clintwood saying that Clintwood could play with them to motivate Burton, does it make them lazy when the majority say that they should roll over Clintwood? I mean you can't have it one way and not the other people. If talk can motivate you, it sure can make you lazy too and turning it around, wouldn't all the talk of blowouts motivate Clintwood or does anti-talk just work for Burton and not for another team? Heck does all the talk from some people how Clinwood wouldn't play with them , make them lazy? Again, talk can't just work one way. Its funny, noticed that over the years how people try to use comments like that. For example GCBrickBoy says "we'll beat PV by 35 this year they arent that good". PVRooster head says "Oh you're motivating PV with those comments, hahahah" Of course PVRooster forgets that they posted earlier in the day that PV should beat GC handily. Don't think they that those comments from them could just as easily be turned about GCBrickBoy as comments to motivate GC? Of course not, because they end up so closed off in their thinking, they can't see the other side of it.

Hey if Burrhead posting Clintwood can win or Greencrest sayings its just Burton motivates Norton, more power to them. I guess the predictions of Burton by 35 or whatever or the comments about starting offenses can't score on Burton motivates Clintwood. What, you mean it can work both ways! Like was said, the comments on here 95% of the time are from people not in the game, and if the comments are used to motivate a team, its normally a bunch of us old timers going up to them and saying "they're talking a bunch of trash about you on the forum"...and most of the kids as soon as wander off go "big freaking deal, you guys who aren't involved keep talking, we'll play football"

What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

Re: The ridiculous view of motivation

What is really ridiculous here, Rocket, is the pretense of you as a moderator being even remotely impartial here when it comes to any discussion regarding Clintwood.

If you could take off your "green shaded" glasses for just a minute and think like a moderator instead of a stat man for the Clintwood team, consider what has been said.

Here's a few of the things Greencrest has said about Norton... (1) it's just Norton, ie. there's nothing special about them (despite the fact that they are undefeated), (2) it's just a team Clintwood can beat 8 out of 10 times, (3) the only team Norton has beat is Appy (I guess Powell Valley just fell off the face of the earth) and let's not forget (4) they're just 3-time state losers.

OK now is this worse than other stuff that has been said about other teams on here? Absolutely not. Is it disrespectful of Norton and what they've accomplished this year? I think so, thats just my opinion and maybe that of a few others. Is what he said trash talk? You're [censored] straight it is.

Call it what you want Rocket, but it's trash talk. It doesn't matter whether it comes from Powell Valley, Gate City, Norton, or even yes Clintwood.

As far as whether anything said here would motivate either Norton or Clintwood, I don't know. I don't know if anyone from the Norton coaching staff read or even care about what is written on this board.

Now we can disagree, and thats ok. [censored] you can even ban me from this discussion board for having a dissenting opinion (two of the three moderators are from Clintwood so why not). Ironlung and Burrhead can even call me names if it makes them feel better. But, in the end, Rocket, you have your opinions, and I have mine. But rest assured, if I see bull[censored], I'm gonna call it as it see it. I don't care if it is colored green.

I just think if you can give your ignorant opinions, I can give some of my ignorant opinions. You shouldn't classify the majority of Clintwood fans as classless and unsportsmanlike. I'll rub it in your face, and if you can't take it just grin and bear it.

Burrhead, I have no problem with you giving your opinions, ignorant or otherwise.

My experience with the Clintwood fans has been exactly as I stated and pretty much everything posted on here reinforces that.

Make all the insults and call me all the names you want, I wouldn't expect anything less from one of Clintwood's long-time fans.

    Good luck Friday.

Big words from one of the most low class, gutless, lying, p.o.s., cowards to ever grace this forum. That's saying alot as well. Like I said in the previous post, please find me at any Clintwood home game. I'll show you something you need to learn about the folks from Clintwood, they'll back up what they say. You can leave with your asss for a hat.

That would have helped in more than one game this year. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I don't mind expressing opinions. I don't mind if you don't like a town, team, person. If you look at this p.o.s.'s posts, out of the 90, 90% of them are ripping either CW's team or town. It shows the mental capacity of this fool to categorize a whole town or communtiy out of something he "says" he's experienced with a "fan" before. Plus, he's a lying p.o.s. who's too much a coward to actually say where he's from. If I were the community he's from, I wouldn't want him devulging that either. I've sat back since this piece of garbage registered, let him express his "opinion". I won't do it any more though. If he has an opinion, that's fine. All he does though is take low class shots at any oportunity he has. I can act just as juvenile.

Re: The ridiculous view of motivation

    Classy, Ironlung.

Let's review the rules of sportsmanship at Clintwood one more time.

    (1) Never admit the other team is better
    (2) Even if they beat you, don't concede defeat unless you absolutely have to, and
    (3) If all else fails, just remind them of what you did 30 years ago and hope they don't know the difference.

I think you may have added a couple... if someone disagrees with you (4) insult them or call them names, and (5) threaten them to get your point across.

Clintwood has been many things over the years, Ironlung, but thugs is not one of them. LOL Good job at lowering the bar.

Re: The ridiculous view of motivation

Thanks, and go to hell you lying coward p.o.s. I'm not calling you anything that your own mother wouldn't agree with.

BTW...the invitation still stands and is open anytime. To disprove your pathetic 1,2,3 garbage that you just put on here, please notice the CW/JIB thread where I stated that CW would lose to JIB. Haysi is better, PV is better, Appy is better. Also, go back to the CW/Haysi thread like I said yesterday and look at the 10+ CW posters that said that Haysi was a much better team, the score wasn't even as close as it looked, the score could have been much worse if Colley hadn't called off the dogs. You're a big man behind your little monitor lying about where you're from. It's nothing to do with being thugish either. I don't drink, don't smoke, never been in trouble with the law other than a speeding ticket. I don't like sniping attacks by a liar against myself, friends, or community. If you do that, and I can get my hands on you, your asss will pay. Take it for what you want. Just know that everytime you pull this [censored] on here, I will be here to remind everyone what a lying, coward, p.o.s. you are.
